About HEIC to PDF Conversion

HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is the default photo format on iPhones running iOS 11 and later. Apple adopted HEIC because it produces files roughly half the size of JPG while maintaining the same visual quality. A typical iPhone photo saved as HEIC is around 2–3MB compared to 5–8MB for the same photo in JPG.

HEIC has one significant problem: it is not widely supported outside Apple devices. Windows cannot open HEIC files without an additional codec. Most online services, government portals, and document management systems do not accept HEIC uploads. Converting HEIC to PDF gives you a universally compatible file that anyone can open.

Why iPhone users need HEIC conversion

When you take a photo on your iPhone and share it by email or upload it to a website, iOS sometimes converts it to JPG automatically. But when you transfer photos to a computer via USB or AirDrop, they arrive as HEIC files. Many Windows users who receive these files cannot open them without installing additional software.

Converting to PDF solves this immediately — PDF opens in any browser, email client, or document viewer on any operating system.

Browser support for HEIC

HEIC conversion works in Safari on iPhone and Mac, where HEIC is natively supported by the operating system. On Chrome, Firefox, and Edge, HEIC conversion may not be available because these browsers do not include Apple's HEIC decoder. If HEIC conversion is unavailable in your browser, the converter will inform you — in that case, you can use iPhone's built-in option to export photos as JPG: go to Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible.

Multiple HEIC photos into one PDF

Upload multiple HEIC photos to combine them into a single multi-page PDF. This is ideal for submitting a collection of photos as a single document.
